1. Are you hiring?
While we are not hiring right now, MCA keeps all employment
applications on file for a period of one year. The administrator
reviews all applications for employment and will call if your
skills meet the needs of the school. Keep in mind, you must be a
Christian and able to obtain security clearance to obtain
employment at Memorial Christian Academy.
2. What if my child has been referred to an alternative
school or alternate campus? Can they be enrolled at MCA?
MCA does not accept children who have disciplinary action
pending at their current school, who have been referred to
alternative school/ or an alternate campus. MCA school policy
requires all children who apply to MCA to have been in good
standing at their previous school for one year. We’re sorry;
there are no exceptions to this rule.
3. My child has a learning disability, is ADD/HD or has
special needs. Can he/she be enrolled at MCA?
MCA does not accept children with learning disabilities,
special needs, or IEPS. MCA is not equipped to deal with or
provide for special needs of any type. Placement testing is
required of every student for 1st Grade and above and all
previous school academic and medical records will be requested
prior to enrollment.
Should behavioral, learning, or physical problems surface
during the school year, a student’s status will be re-assessed.
The principal —again, after consulting with parents and all
involved staff members— will decide whether the school can offer
the special programs needed to continue the proper development
of the student, or whether other arrangements should be made.
4. My child needs extra attention in class, a smaller
classroom, more individualized attention and/or is struggling
academically. Is MCA right for us?
While the teachers at MCA pride themselves in personal attention
to all students, realistically the curriculum at MCA is
advanced. Students who are struggling on a regular curriculum in
the public school will likely struggle more at MCA. We pride
ourselves on our advanced academics. In order to be placed at
MCA Academic testing is required as well as a review of the
child’s previous academic/behavior record.
5. What curriculum do you use? What is an A BEKA curriculum?
An A BEKA curriculum is a traditional academic curriculum that
is presented in a very structured manner with the content
focusing upon the Bible with a Christian perspective.
6. My child was not the age required by Sept 1st, but he/she
can already read/ is very bright/ is advanced. Can you test them
for the next higher grade?
Under no circumstances does MCA place students in a grade level
higher than their age would indicate. (K5 - 5 years old
by September 1st. 1st grade - 6 years old by September 1st
etc...)
Testing is required for all students 1st grade and above, but
the enrolling child will be given age/grade appropriate test.
Records will be requested from previous school. No child will be
tested for a higher grade level at enrollment, for any reason,
ever.
